On the Fence

Green frog under my feet
As I step to climb over the fence
I look down just a glance
He looks up at me
As I straddle the rail
Both feet together in the middle
Oh little frog what should I do
On one side are flowers
And the other is bare
My hands hold on to keep from falling
My scarf blows in the wind
I lower my head to pray
Oh lord why me
I am not a chosen one
My heart is not pure
The little green frog is inviting
With a voice so beautiful
I will sit here for a while
Its comfortable and I am afraid

I lean hoping the rails are strong

For if I fall
The little frog might be too weak
To catch me

Choices

We are all given choices each and every day
Its ours to decide what to do or write or sometimes to say

There once was a man from Nazareth or some say from Galilee
The choices he made were simple but oh how they affect me

I always knew right from wrong or so my mother said
The choices I made would affect me until the day I was dead

I once met a man from Charlotte who hammered nails every day
He said to me as I passed by what is it going to be

Some people are problems and some solutions you see
So what was I and who was I going to be

Ashlyn was a little girl with big brown curls
She had the cutest smile in the whole wide world

When she looked at me with those big brown eyes
Wanna to make me stop telling all them lies

Where you going daddy why can't you stay home
Breaks my heart but I gotta roam

My family is back at home
while I am out her on the road
I just want them to know
that daddy will be coming home

Mommy's here so thin and frail
She loves you so much you just can't tell

Underneath that worn dress she's so fine
Daddy, all she wants is for you to say she's mine
