Too Old To Be A Rookie

I’m too old to be a rookie with my name on a baseball card

I’m too old to be a rookie and maybe hit one out of the yard

But I’m not too old to sing this little song

I’m too old to be a rookie cause I waited too damn long

I can still swing for the fences and maybe run a base or two

And when the umpire says play ball and the pitcher throws strike one

I pretend I’m ten years old and still just having fun

I’m too old to be a rookie with my name on a baseball card

I’m too old to be a rookie and maybe hit one out of the yard

But I’m not too old to sing this little song

I’m too old to be a rookie cause I waited too damn long

Now the lights are out the tarp is down and the peanuts have been sold

The fans went home with their money’s worth telling tales I’m told

About a guy out there that won’t believe that he’s just too damn old

I’m too old to be a rookie with my name on a baseball card

I’m too old to be a rookie and maybe hit one out of the yard

But I’m not too old to sing this little song

I’m too old to be a rookie cause I waited too damn long

Now when my time is done and my cleats have been hung up

Please bury me in center field in the green grass so cold

And don’t ever let em say that he was too damn old

I’m too old to be a rookie with my name on a baseball card

I’m too old to be a rookie and maybe hit one out of the yard

But I’m not too old to sing this little song

I’m too old to be a rookie cause I waited too damn long

Pope Francis and the Inmates

Wash the feet is what he did to the sinners lot

They made a chair of wood for him to sit

He stood and prayed for the sins of those he met

The lie is dead you can change to them is what he said

Then they kissed him as he laid his hand upon their heads

We are all prisoners yearning to be set free

Is the message that he gave for all the world to see
