You

when I met you
the other day

you had a smile
and looked my way

you were there
just for me

but I was blind
and could not see

I'm the one
you think you need

I just know
you must be free

Move On

you don't care what time it is
you just want to go home
when its over its over
and time to move on

no matter where you are
or what you are doing

when the day is done and
the lights come on
no matter how much is left
you pack your bags

put on your coat
and head for the door

the money is good
but is that all there is
when your life is over
and you can't move

there is no reward
there is no compassion

they say you live in the past
but isn't it already past
when you started
whats the difference its all the same

where is the beginning
when does now start and past end

had a friend once
but now he is gone
left this place
and moved on

don;t know why
just know he is gone

one day came home and
had to start over
but don't know how
pick it up put it down

some times it's
just that simple

you write it down
don't know what it means
just write it down
read it later

maybe it will make sense
when it's time to move on

It Was Good

I had it baby
and it was good
I had it baby
and it was good

But I lost it baby
When I lost you

Your star was shining
and it was bright
Your star was shining
and it was bright

Then you were gone
And it was night

I had a dream
and you were there
I had a dream
and you were there

When I awoke
The room was bare

Old

You wear your past
Like a faded pair of jeans
The holes are covered with patches
That have to be constantly sewn

A needle and thread are no match
For the wounds of a well worn life

By The Sea

I once knew a man
He lived by the sea
He had a woman
And a banana tree

Her skin was brown
From all the sun
She did'nt care
Just having fun

Living by the ocean
That's where I'll be
Just catching waves
And being free

They had a child
So young and bold
His only dream
Not to get old

When he was born
The ocean rose
To tell the world
I suppose

Living by the ocean
That's where I'll be
Just catching waves
And being free

His board was blue
Just like the sky
It was a joy
To see him ride

His only dream
His only thought
Was his love
That he had lost

Living by the ocean
That's where I'll be
Just catching waves
And being free

Debt

Would you sell your soul
for a dollar
And let others
dictate your views

Would you compromise all
of your principles
Allow greed to
alter your mind

Then I have a story
to tell you
Of a person who is
just like you

Do you believe in the
lies that they tell you
Put your faith in
the words of a few

Are you driven in your
search by your conscience
Or by lust for the things
you don't have

Then I have a story
to tell you
Of a person who is
just like you

Do you mask your intentions
with good deeds
To hide your
insatiable needs

Is compassion something
you live by
Do you kick it to
the side of the curb

Then I have a story
to tell you
Of a person who is
just like you

Is beauty the nature
that surrounds you
Or the wax on your
shiny new car

Would you trample the
poor and the crippled
While you make your
ascent to the top

There's nothing new to the
story I tell you
Of a person who is
just like you

There are people in the
world around you
Who will tell you
what you want to hear

They are driven by
things that may surprise you
If the truth is what
you hold dear

Just be careful my friend
because in the end
Your debt will
have to be paid

Going Home

Everytime that I think
I'm going home
Everytime that I think
I'm going home

They're just throwing me a bone
Not going home
Not going home

All I think about
is going home
All I think about
is going home

Man tells me
Not going home
Not going home

Wish it would end
And I could go home
Wish it would end
And I could go home

C'mon man
Bring me home
Bring me home

You Saved Me

When I awake and see you
lying there
When I see you smile and
you make me laugh
When you go to work in
your little car

You saved me
You saved me

When you get home and
its late at night
You drink your wine and
you go to bed
I was down and had
no place to go

You saved me
You saved me

You hold out your hand and
you comfort me
In the darkness
that was my life
You were the one who
saved me

Today

How are you
How are you

I haven't seen you for a while
Today

Where are you
Where are you

Been looking for you
Today

I miss you
I miss you

Where ya been
Today

I Love you
I love you

Gonna tell you
Today

Help To Carry On

When I was a young man
Out on the open road
Things were never easy
Always had a heavy load

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

My old man drank whiskey
Mixed with water in a glass
Drank so much liquor
Till he fell down on his ass

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

My poor mom was an angel
Straight down from heaven above
She cooked Christmas dinner
And filled it with lots of love

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

My grandma had a day job
Selling shoes and pants
My grandpa smoked tobacco
And drank Miller beer from a glass

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

I missed your dirty little war
Just by a day and a half
My friends all joined the Navy
And got busted smoking hash

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

I met a little woman
Sweetest thing you ever knew
Loved me in the morning
And loved me all night long

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

Them kids they drove me crazy
From sun up to sun down
But they gave me love
Never had a frown

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

I worked from nine to five
Just like a dumb ole dog
Driving in my car
Sleeping like a log

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

Had computers and cell phones
Faxes and PDA's
I think it would be better
If I threw them all away

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

Property and money
Things I knew nothing about
Cept you can't take them with you
When they put you in a box

But I had you with me
Helping to carry on

Now that I am an old man
Leaning on a fence
Things still ain't easy
But they make a little more sense

Cause I got you with me
Helping to carry on.
