Try (or note to self)

I don't like the word try
don't try to write
just write
Good or bad just write
Don't try just do
I fell down once
And tried to get up
And couldn't
So instead of trying
I just got up
Some people make things look easy
But in truth nothing is easy
It is just as hard for them
As it is for you
They just don't try
They get up
So get your ass up
Stop worrying and go about your life
And when it's time to write
Just write
It's there
You're just trying to hard
To get up
Oh yeah and don't get so drunk
Or hung up on shit
That when you fall you can't get up
Helps too
But then sometimes that's
When I do my best writing
So maybe just keep your notepad
With you while you're lying on the floor
No no, don't do that

That's bad advice

Here's good advice:

When you don't know what to do,
just do something,
and as you're doing something
what you are supposed to do will come to you.
Just don't be sitting down when the boss walks by...

or perhaps when inspiration shows up?

I spend a lot of time moving a ladder
from one side of the room to the other
or sweeping the floor
until I figure out what the fuck to do next.

Don't sit around waiting for inspiration
when you could be doing something else.
