On the outskirts of this town
was a place called the Church of
Sabion
Legend has it that in the year 1348
the Virgin Mary appeared to a young
girl
and asked her to steal a statue
in the church of Our Lady of
Antwerp
The young girls name was Beatrice Soetkens
She was helped by a boatman
who brought her here to Brussels
where she was also helped
by the crossbowmen of the Big Guild
who took her to the Sabion
The first Ommegang in Brussels
was that at the Sabion
Dedicated to this virgin worshipped
as Our lady of the Victories
Now the parade was drawing near
His thoughts of desire would have
to wait
They could take refuge in the crowd
from the unwanted advances of
prying eyes
As he needed more time
to figure out his next move
And to give them time together
somewhere more private…
